Is my money safe if Bamba Wallet is unregulated?
We're upfront that Bamba Wallet is currently unregulated. When you deposit, your money is held in our business bank account and reflected as a balance in your wallet, it isn't covered by deposit insurance the way a bank account is. Every transaction is logged, and you can request a withdrawal back to your own bank account at any time.
Do I need ID to sign up?
No. You can open a wallet with just a phone number and start sending and receiving money right away. Verifying your identity is optional, it only raises your monthly limits, it's never required for basic use.
Are transfers between wallets really free?
Yes, always. Sending money to another Bamba Wallet user costs nothing: no percentage, no minimum fee, no catch.
How do deposits and withdrawals work?
Deposit by EFT using your reference, and your wallet is credited once it lands in our account. Withdraw whenever you want, paid out to your own bank account. See Fees & Limits for the exact costs and limits.
What if I lose my phone or forget my password?
Contact support and we'll help you regain access. Losing your phone doesn't mean losing your balance, it stays tied to your account, not the device.
How does Bamba Wallet make money?
From two things only: 1.5% + R0.50 when a merchant receives a payment, and a small flat fee on cash withdrawals. We don't charge for holding a balance or for sending money to other users.
